Wiping mold off a surface, or even repainting over it, addresses the visible symptom, not the cause. If the humidity or moisture that fed the original growth is still present, new mold can establish within days once conditions are favorable again. That’s why proper remediation identifies and corrects the moisture source as a core step, not an optional add-on.

Confirming the fix worked

After remediation, clearance testing gives you an objective way to confirm that mold levels have returned to normal and that the moisture source has actually been resolved, rather than just hoping the problem is gone. If you’ve had mold come back more than once, that’s a strong signal to have the moisture source properly diagnosed, especially if the recurrence followed a heavy rain event that never fully dried out, rather than repeating the same surface cleanup.
